Mac clipboard history
Shortcuts, macOS version differences, and a side-by-side look at Spotlight and PasteDock.
PasteDock is a clipboard app that keeps searchable text, images, and files on your device, then lets you paste an earlier copy with one shortcut.
A normal copy-and-paste flow is easy to break: copy a link, copy a screenshot, and the link is replaced. A clipboard manager keeps earlier copies available. PasteDock adds search, reusable snippets, multi-item compose, and the same workflow on macOS and Windows.
Use ⌘ C on Mac or Ctrl C on Windows. PasteDock records supported text, images, and files.
Press ⌥ ⌘ V on Mac or Alt Ctrl V on Windows, then search or use the arrow keys.
Select an earlier copy and press Return. Accessibility permission enables automatic paste; without it, PasteDock still writes the item to the system clipboard.
Pin replies, addresses, links, and attachments as snippets instead of finding and copying them again.
| Need | System clipboard | PasteDock |
|---|---|---|
| Earlier copies | Depends on OS version and settings | Searchable local history |
| Content | Varies by system | Text, images, and files |
| Repeated replies | Basic pinning on some systems | Dedicated snippets with attachments |
| Paste several items | One item at a time | Multi-select and compose packs |
| Mac and Windows | Different workflows | One app and one license |
| Privacy | System dependent | Local by default; sync is optional |
